Prevention
In dentistry, "an ounce of prevention is truly worth a pound of cure". There are several areas of prevention that are beneficial to the teeth and gums:
Sealants
Sealants are a plastic-like material that helps shield out decay-causing bacteria from the chewing surfaces of the back teeth. Sealants are painlessly bonded into the deep grooves and pits of back teeth (where tooth brush bristles are unable to reach), forming a protective barrier against decay. Most commonly, the permanent molars are sealed and protected. If the tendency for decay is high and the grooves are deep, other teeth such as the permanent premolars and primary (baby) molars can also be sealed.

Fluoride
Fluoride may be used to prevent or reduce dental decay on all teeth. It is effective on primary (baby) and permanent teeth. Systemic fluoride ingested through fluoridated water or prescription supplements is an effective way to strengthen the enamel of developing / growing teeth. Topical fluoride in a gel or solution is beneficial to teeth that have already erupted into the mouth.
Diet and Oral Hygiene Information
Maximum decay prevention includes:
1) Brushing and flossing
2) Sealants
3) Fluoride
4) Eating a balanced diet and limiting sugar exposure to teeth
5) Regular dental checkups
Pediatric (Children's) Dental Care
Dr. Siefe and his staff enjoy and look forward to seeing and working with your children to improve their dental health. We strive to provide excellent care, in as comfortable a setting as possible so that you and your children have a positive dental experience in our office.
Our greatest success is the many children that look forward to their next dental visit with us.
Orthodontics
Orthodontics, or braces, can dramatically improve a patient's smile and bite. Recent advances in Orthodontics allows patients to have braces while they are young in order to prevent more severe bite problems or the potential need for jaw surgery later in life.
